Does 24 Hour Fitness Have a Sauna?

Allsaunas•October 10, 2026•5 min read

Yes, a lot of them do. Many 24 Hour Fitness clubs have a dry sauna, a steam room, or both, usually inside the men's and women's locker rooms. Not every club has them, though, and the club's name is the best clue to which ones do.

The AllSaunas directory includes 185 different 24 Hour Fitness clubs, more than any other gym chain we list. Here's what they have.

What we found across 185 clubs

Every club in our directory has some kind of heat room, since that's what we list. Within that group:

  • 141 have both a steam room and a dry sauna
  • 25 have a steam room only
  • 10 have a dry sauna only
  • 9 list a sauna without saying which kind

So when a 24 Hour Fitness has heat at all, it most often has both rooms. If it only has one, a steam room is more likely than a dry sauna.

Most of these clubs are in California (119), followed by Texas (25), Oregon (11), Colorado (10), and Washington (10). San Jose, Portland, San Diego, Sacramento, and Houston have the most.

Use the club name as a clue

24 Hour Fitness puts the club format in the name. Super-Sport and Ultra-Sport clubs are the largest, and many have a pool and a basketball court. Sport clubs are mid-sized. Active clubs are the smallest. In our directory, the bigger the format, the more likely the club has both rooms:

The format comes from the club's official name or website, and a few clubs didn't have one. If you're choosing between two nearby clubs and the sauna matters, the Super-Sport is the safer bet.

Clubs with both rooms in the biggest cities

A few examples from our directory of clubs that list both a dry sauna and a steam room:

  • San Diego: UTC Super-Sport, Navajo Super Sport, Balboa, Imperial Marketplace
  • Portland area: The Pearl, Hollywood, Gresham, McLoughlin Super-Sport
  • Houston: Houston Heights Super-Sport, Rice Village
  • Sacramento area: Fulton & Hurley, Rancho Cordova
  • San Jose: San Jose Super Sport, Eastridge

Some newer clubs go further. When 24 Hour Fitness opened its Roseville and Irvine clubs in California in 2023, it announced infrared saunas at both and its first cold plunge at Roseville.

Steam room or dry sauna?

Since most clubs have both, you'll get to choose. They feel very different. A gym steam room usually runs around 110 to 120°F with the air close to fully saturated, so you're wet within a minute and it feels hotter than the number suggests. A dry sauna runs much hotter, often 160°F or more, but the low humidity makes it easier to breathe.

Plenty of people use both in one visit: a few minutes of steam, a cool shower, then the dry sauna. If you're not sure which suits you, our steam room vs sauna guide goes through the differences.

Is the sauna included in the membership?

At most clubs, the sauna and steam room are in the locker rooms, so anyone who can use the locker room can use them. Some membership plans are tied to one club or a group of clubs, though, so make sure the club with the sauna is on your plan. If you're not sure, ask at the front desk before you sign.

How to check a specific club

  1. Find the club on the 24 Hour Fitness website and open its amenities list. Look for "sauna" and "steam room".
  2. Check the club in our directory, which shows dry sauna and steam room separately.
  3. Call or visit if the sauna is the main reason you're joining. Rooms sometimes close for repairs, and a quick look on your tour settles it.

A few gym sauna habits

Gym saunas get busy after work. Shower before you go in, sit on a towel, and keep sessions to about 10 to 15 minutes, especially in the steam room, where the humid heat feels hotter than the number on the dial. Our guide on how long to stay in a sauna has more on timing.
