Yes, most do. The large majority of LA Fitness clubs have a dry sauna in both the men's and women's locker rooms, and it comes with a regular membership. Steam rooms are much harder to find. Only a small share of clubs have one.
LA Fitness saunas are usually traditional dry saunas: a small wood-lined room with a heater and two or three levels of benches. Because they're inside the locker rooms, there's one for men and one for women, and they aren't co-ed.
GymsWithSauna, a directory that checks gym amenities club by club, counted 505 LA Fitness clubs with a dry sauna out of 558 in its July 2026 data. Its own LA Fitness overview page gives a slightly different count, so treat "around 90%" as the fair summary. In the AllSaunas directory, all 7 LA Fitness clubs we list have a dry sauna. They're in Florida, Texas, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Steam rooms are uncommon at LA Fitness. GymsWithSauna found them at about 5% of clubs, around 30 locations. Of the 7 clubs in our directory, only one, in Round Rock, Texas, has a steam room.
If a steam room is the reason you're joining, call the club first. Reviews from a few years ago aren't a reliable guide, because rooms get closed or converted.
Many clubs have a pool, and clubs with a pool often have a whirlpool spa next to it. The whirlpool is separate from the locker room sauna. It's co-ed, so you'll need a swimsuit, and it's not a substitute for dry heat if that's what you're after.
LA Fitness's larger Signature clubs tend to have more amenities than a standard club, but access to them can depend on your membership plan, so ask before you count on one. No club format guarantees a steam room, so check the specific club page either way.
Club Studio is a separate, higher-priced brand from the same parent company. It has its own membership, and a standard LA Fitness membership doesn't get you in.
The same company also ran Esporta Fitness. Most Esporta clubs were converted to LA Fitness by April 2025, and a few closed or were sold. If you remember a sauna at an Esporta, the building may still have it under the LA Fitness name.
Yes. Sauna access at your home club comes with a standard LA Fitness membership. There's no separate upgrade for the sauna itself.
If a dry sauna is all you want, LA Fitness is one of the most reliable big gym chains for it. If you also want a steam room, it's one of the weakest. In our directory, 24 Hour Fitness clubs have a steam room far more often (166 of the 185 clubs we list), and every Equinox we list has one. Crunch sits in between, with a dry sauna at 49 of 54 clubs and steam at 40.
So the choice depends on the room you care about. For a dry sauna close to home, a nearby LA Fitness is a good bet. For steam, check the other chains in your area first.
The locker room sauna is small and shared, and it fills up in the evening. Shower first, sit on a towel, and keep your session to 10 to 15 minutes when it's busy. Most gyms ask members not to shave, stretch out across the benches, or bring phones in. Check the rules posted at your club.
What to wear depends on the room. Since these saunas aren't co-ed, many people wear a towel, and a swimsuit is always fine. Our guide to what to wear in a sauna covers the options.
