Yes. Every Life Time club in our directory has a sauna, and most have a steam room as well. The cold plunge is the part that varies: about half the clubs we list have one, so check your club before you count on it.
As of October 2026, the AllSaunas directory lists 166 Life Time clubs in the US. All 166 have a sauna or steam room, and 157 have a traditional dry sauna recorded. For the other 9 we've only recorded a steam room so far, but the club pages we checked for two of them (Brea, California, and Edina at Southdale, Minnesota) list a locker room sauna too. So "every club has a sauna" is a fair summary.
Life Time runs 195 clubs across the US and Canada, according to its second-quarter 2026 results. We list most of them, but not every one, so a club missing from our directory doesn't mean it lacks a sauna.
Life Time's amenities pages often list a "Locker Room Sauna", and many also list a "Cedarwood Sauna" in their recovery section.
Steam rooms are nearly as common as saunas. We opened the amenities pages of 27 Life Time clubs, and 25 listed a steam room, often a "Eucalyptus Steam Room". The two pages that didn't list one were Penn 1 in New York and Evanston, Illinois. Our own listings don't show the steam room at many clubs yet, so for steam, check the club's amenities page on lifetime.life.
Infrared saunas are rare. Three clubs in our directory have one: Penn 1 in New York, Prudential Center in Boston, and Westlake in Texas.
Co-ed saunas are rare too. Only 5 of the 166 clubs we list have a sauna in a co-ed area. The cold plunge is the opposite. At 72 of the 79 clubs with a plunge, it sits in a shared co-ed area rather than in the locker rooms. On a Life Time page in our directory, the "Male area", "Female area" and "Co-ed area" tabs show which rooms are where.
79 of the 166 Life Time clubs we list have a cold plunge. Life Time clubs make up close to 4 in 10 of the gyms in our directory with a cold plunge. By comparison, none of the 24 Hour Fitness or LA Fitness clubs we list has one recorded.
Here's how it breaks down by state, as of October 2026:
| State | Life Time clubs we list | With a cold plunge |
|---|---|---|
| Texas | 28 | 16 |
| Minnesota | 21 | 6 |
| Illinois | 13 | 3 |
| California | 10 | 4 |
| Colorado | 8 | 6 |
| Arizona | 7 | 6 |
| Michigan | 7 | 5 |
| Massachusetts | 7 | 4 |
| Virginia | 7 | 3 |
| Georgia | 6 | 5 |
| New York | 6 | 4 |
| Ohio | 6 | 3 |
| Florida | 5 | 4 |
| New Jersey | 5 | 2 |
| Maryland | 4 | 1 |
| North Carolina | 4 | 0 |
| 15 other states | 22 | 7 |
In Minnesota, the clubs we list with a plunge are Chanhassen, Eden Prairie Athletic, Edina at Southdale, Minnetonka, Plymouth and Woodbury. In Texas, they include Plano, Allen, Garland, Las Colinas, Champions and Lake Houston in the Houston area, Sugar Land, Cinco Ranch in Katy, and Austin North and South.
Plunges are being added, so our list runs a little behind. Life Time's amenities pages for Eagan (Minnesota), Sandy Springs (Georgia) and Mount Laurel (New Jersey) now list a cold plunge we haven't recorded yet. To check a club, open its page on lifetime.life, go to Amenities, and look under the recovery section for "Cold Plunge". Or see every Life Time in our directory.
Life Time's Guest & Club Policies apply at every club. You must wear proper attire in the sauna, steam room, spa and cold plunge, and you can't use them nude, even in the locker room. Don't pour anything on the sauna heater, including water or oils. Saunas and steam rooms are quiet areas, and phones can't be used for calls.
You're also expected to take a full soap-and-water shower before the pool, spa or cold plunge, according to Life Time's member etiquette page. For the plunge, the same page suggests about 30 seconds the first time and up to 5 minutes once you're used to it. Our guide to cold plunge temperature explains how temperature changes that.
Guests can come in on a member's guest pass, which members get each month in the Life Time app, or buy a One Day membership. Life Time says it can limit guest hours by club, so check the club's guest hours before you bring a friend for the sauna.
Life Time calls its gyms "athletic country clubs", and the recovery areas match that. Of the big chains, it has the most complete setup: a sauna at every club, a steam room at almost every club, and a cold plunge at about half.
The cheaper chains cover less. Planet Fitness doesn't have saunas at all, as our Planet Fitness article explains. LA Fitness has a dry sauna at most clubs but rarely a steam room. 24 Hour Fitness has a steam room at most of the clubs we list, covered in our 24 Hour Fitness article. None of them has a cold plunge at more than a handful of clubs.
If you want a sauna and a cold plunge but don't need a gym, a bathhouse or recovery studio with a day pass is another way to get both. Search places with a cold plunge near you to compare.
About half of Life Time clubs do. As of October 2026, 79 of the 166 Life Time clubs in our directory have a cold plunge. Texas has the most (16 of 28 clubs), and most clubs in Arizona, Colorado and Georgia have one. Check the Amenities page of your club on lifetime.life to be sure.
Usually not. At most clubs the sauna is inside the men's and women's locker rooms. The cold plunge is the exception: at most clubs that have one, it's in a shared co-ed area.
Guests come in on a member's guest pass or a One Day membership, and the same club rules apply to them. Life Time can limit guest hours, so check with the club before you visit.
Only a few. Three Life Time clubs in our directory have an infrared sauna: Penn 1 in New York, Prudential Center in Boston, and Westlake in Texas. Almost every other club has a traditional dry sauna.
No. Life Time's club policies say you must wear proper attire and be properly covered in the sauna, steam room, spa and cold plunge.
